Jube School Presents: Puppet Adventures with Emma Ryan
Join theatre artist and puppeteer Emma Ryan (Kaybridge Puppets) as she shares the techniques behind bringing puppets to life. Students will explore the fundamentals of acting, puppet construction, and performance, and how to build their own puppet show. Beginning with an exploration of hand expressiveness, students will observe how simple movements can animate a puppet. The workshop will also introduce puppetry from various cultures and different puppet styles. Finally, students will learn how to transform a sock into a character and apply storytelling principles to puppetry.
Recommended grades: 2 - 4

About the artist: Emma Ryan (she/her) is an Alberta-based actor, director and puppeteer. She was raised by a puppeteer, and sitting in front and behind the stage was the most exciting experience. She would watch Sesame Street in awe and knew she wanted to take part in this way of telling stories. She holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Alberta, and has studied internationally in New York, London, and Italy. She has continues to love puppetry and performs professionally and shares her passion through teaching.
