Jube School Presents: Playwriting with Marty Chan
How does a writer create a story from nothing? They don’t! They borrow from their life experiences. Just in time for the winter holidays, Marty Chan shares his tips on how to take life events and observations, and turn them into ideas for a play. Learn how to transform an ordinary winter activity into a fun and festive story with conflict and drama!

About the artist: Marty Chan writes books, plays, and TV shows. For twenty years, he’s worked for theatres across Canada, including the Citadel Theatre, Workshop West, Cahoots Theatre, Richmond Gateway, and Theatre Passe Muraille. He wrote the Sterling Award winning kids play A Hero for All. In fiction, he’s best known for his bestselling thriller, Haunted Hospital, as well as his Marty Chan Mystery series. Marty works and lives in Edmonton with his wife Michelle and their cats, Hugo and Minnie.
